Programme Note

This evening, the Orchestra welcomes its new conductor, Edward Doody, who ably replaces his predecessor, Edwina Wolstencroft, who retired after the first concert of the season on the 30th November, 2024.  So far, Edward has played horn with the Orchestra and twice conducted the wind section with performances of Mendelssohn’s Noturno, Op.24 and his own composition, Three Dances for Wind Dectet.

He now takes on the full body of the Orchestra and the performance of some significant works from the orchestral repertoire, including Mozart’s Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra, K.191/K.186e, with Ella Coleman, student and occasional player
with the Orchestra, and Beethoven’s Symphony No.8 in F major, Op.92.
