Add to my Calendar 18-07-2026 19:00 18-07-2026 21:00 36 Mozart's The Magic Flute Mozart’s dazzling masterpiece is a fairy tale which takes place in a mystical land lying between the sun and the moon. An adventurous Prince Tamino is rescued by three mysterious ladies and ordered by their mistress, the vengeful Queen of the Night, to rescue her daughter, Pamina, from the evil Sarastro. Prince Tamino, armed with a magic flute and accompanied by a reluctant bird catcher, Papageno, ventures forth to find the Princess. With much laughter and hidden meanings, this glorious opera which boasts endless melodies and stunning arias (including the stratospheric Queen of the Night’s two arias), is the crown jewel of Mozart’s many masterpieces and continues to captivate both young and old. One of the goals of West Green House Opera is to help our most gifted artists hone their craft by giving them the chance to learn new roles in a nurturing environment and to perform them on a professional stage to a live audience. Accordingly, for this production, they have cast principally from the UK’s most renowned opera training programmes; the Jette Parker graduates of The Royal Opera House’ the Harewood students from ENO, The National Opera Studio and The Guildhall School of Music, to name but a few. Directed by Richard Studer who has given West Green House Opera many magnificent productions over the years and conducted by Maestro Jon Lyness, this will undoubtedly be the most delightful and memorable interpretation of this much-loved opera.
