Programme Note
Contusion is cCo-commissioned by The Radcliffe Trust, NMC Recordings, and by Wigmore Hall with the support of André Hoffmann, president of the Fondation Hoffmann, a Swiss grant-making foundation
The need to refresh the chamber music repertoire is recognised here with the launch of a co-commissioning partnership between Wigmore Hall, The Radcliffe Trust and NMC Recordings.
Mark-Anthony Turnage’s new work for the Belcea Quartet will be followed in coming seasons with the premières of scores by fellow British composers Simon Holt, Anthony Gilbert, Helen Grime, Donnacha Dennehy and Paul Newland. Jonathan Biss joins the Belceas to perform Brahms’s early masterwork, the Piano Quintet in F minor Op. 34.
