Programme Note
The annual Keyboard Trust Prizewinner's Concert at Wigmore Hall takes place on Tuesday, 24th January 2017 (7.30pm) and will feature the remarkable young Romanian-Italian pianist EMANUEL RIMOLDI (www.emanuelrimoldi.com) performing a popular programme of works by Mozart, Schumann, Verdi/Liszt and Rachmaninov.
… one of the best pianists I have heard in years. He combines in his playing
youthful freshness and vitality with a maturity well beyond his age.
Thus he is predestined for an international career – Paul Badura-Skoda
Emanuel Rimoldi studied piano and composition at the ‘G. Verdi’ Conservatory in Milan. From 2009-2015, he studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Elissò Virsaladze and attended masterclasses with Dina Yoffe, Boris Petrushansky and Vladimir Ashkenazy.
In 2013, Emanuel won First Prize at the Cantù piano competition (Italy) and First Prize in the ‘Top of the World’ competition in Tromsø (Norway). In 2016, he won the First Grand Prize and the Ivo Pogorelich Prize at the Manhattan International Music Competitions. After Emanuel won the ‘Top of the World’ international competition, he joined the ‘Steinway Prize Winner Concerts Network’ and has performed in some of the most prestigious halls and festivals in Europe. He also made his concert debut at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig which was broadcast by Radio MDR and by the European Broadcasting Union.
In the 2015-16 season, he made his debut at the Sendesaal, Hanover for NDR Radio, performed at the Miami Piano Festival and at Carnegie Hall in New York. He also gave a series of concerts in Germany for the Keyboard Trust. In the 2016-17 season, he will give two recitals in Mexico for the Keyboard Trust and will also perform in Italy, France, Germany, the UK, the USA and Japan.
