This uplifting programme celebrates the genius of the 18th century composers Handel, Bach, Albinoni and Pachelbel with some of their most popular music.At the heart of the concert is Handel’s invigorating and chorally virtuosic Dixit Dominus, written when he was just 22. Classics alongside this are Pachelbel’s timeless Canon in D, Handel’s ever popular Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, the hauntingly beautiful Adagio by Albinoni, and Bach’s serene Air on a G string. The programme also includes Bach’s Cantata 140, ‘Wachet auf’.Set within the historic and atmospheric Wimborne Minster, the evening promises to be an inspiring and memorable celebration of Baroque masterpieces.
