Waynflete Singers
Programme Note
The Waynflete Singers are joined the English Chamber Orchestra to perform Beethoven’s Mass in C, followed by a selection of Christmas music both for choir and audience, including Bach’s ‘Wachet Auf! (Sleepers Wake!), Cantata 140. The carols will include Andrew Lumsden’s own beautiful setting of ‘Silent Night’, as well as Waynflete tenor Dr Tim Cain’s carol ‘Let us now go to Bethlehem’ . This carol was awarded joint first prize in the Sir David Wilcocks carol competition of 2022 run by the Bach choir - judged by David Hill, Jonathan Wilcocks and Cecilia McDowell. Traditional carols for all will complete the festive and uplifting proceedings.
