As far as we know, some of this music has not been heard for hundreds of years, and we hope that you enjoy listening to it as much as we have enjoyed discovering it. We have taken inspiration for the programme from Peter Eugene Ball's sculpture Pieta, which visually evokes the lamentations of the texts. We want Apollo of the Arts to be an inclusive and collaborative ensemble that brings to the fore composers and repertoire that are unknown, underperformed or forgotten, while creating high-level and sustainable work for musicians.
