Programme Note

Join us for an evening of sublime a cappella choral music performed by the outstanding National Youth Choir Fellowship Octet.

These eight young singers are part of a year-long educational programme which allows them to develop their skills as singers, conductors and workshop leaders. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in the UK, this recital will focus on music by female composers from the medieval mystic Hildegard von Bingen to contemporary composers Roxanna Panufnik and Kerry Andrew, alongside other choral favourites including C.V. Stanford’s ‘The Blue Bird’ and excerpts from Hubert Parry’s ‘Songs of Farewell’ (to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his death) as well as some roof-raising showstoppers that will get your feet tapping!
