Add to my Calendar 14-11-2015 19:30 14-11-2015 21:30 36 Autumn concert “We are the music makers, / And we are the dreamers of dreams.” So run the evocative first lines of Arthur O'Shaughnessy’s 1874 poem, Ode, which Worcestershire-born composer Edward Elgar used for his stirring 1912 choral work The Music Makers. Complementing this English classic is a trio of late Victorian works from Irish composer Sir Charles Villiers Stanford – the Overture from his romantic comic opera Shamus O’Brien; a bold musical retelling of Tennyson’s poem The Revenge depicting Sir Richard Grenville's heroic 1591 sea battle against the Spanish fleet; and the moving, unaccompanied motet Justorum Animae.
