Depicting the final moments of ‘everyman’ Gerontius and the dramatic journey of his soul into the afterlife, this ravishing work, brimming with musical drama and emotion, established Worcestershire-born Elgar as the leading composer of his day. Accompanying the Chorus – one of England’s leading choirs of its kind – will be internationally acclaimed soloists and the superb Meridian Sinfonia orchestra, all under the baton of Worcester Cathedral's director of music Samuel Hudson.
