Come and discover the ethereal Requiem by French composer Maurice Duruflé – one of the finest works in the choral repertoire. Blending Gregorian chant with the rich harmonies of French impressionistic music, this luscious Requiem speaks to the soul. There’s also an unmissable orchestral treat to savour – Sir Edward Elgar’s beloved Enigma Variations, including the deeply emotional ‘Nimrod’. Completing this musical feast are Joseph Haydn’s sparkling choral motet, Insanae et Vanae Curae, and Lili Boulanger’s Vieille Prière Bouddhique (Old Buddhist Prayer), filled with exotic mysticism. Appearing alongside Worcester Festival Choral Society are acclaimed soloists and the Meridian Sinfonia orchestra, with Worcester Cathedral’s director of music Samuel Hudson conducting… and the magnificent Worcester Cathedral setting adding the perfect finishing touch.
