Deepening the sea theme in this exciting concert is Frederick Delius's richly evocative choral work, Sea Drift, based on a poem by Walt Whitman. The Society has programmed A Sea Symphony both to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vaughan Williams's birth, and by popular demand to replace its planned 2020 performance, which had to be cancelled at the start of the pandemic. Complemented by the magnificent setting of Worcester Cathedral, and accompanied by the superb Meridian Sinfonia symphony orchestra, this exceptional concert features renowned soprano Sarah Fox and baritone Andrew Mayor, with Worcester Cathedral's director of music, Samuel Hudson conducting.
