Programme Note
Ensemble DeNOTE return to the roots of eighteenth-century performance style, exploring the sound-world of period instruments with a passion for live musical communication which includes a reproduction fortepiano and clarinet of the kind that Mozart would have been familiar with.
Their programme opens with the delightful Mozart trio for fortepiano, clarinet and viola, said to have been composed in Mozart’s head while playing the bowling alley game of skittles.
Their concert continues with a Haydn piano sonata and finishes with an arrangement of Mozart’s extraordinary Gran’ Partita in an arrangement made after Mozart’s death, and which will be featured on volume 2 of their Mozart CD series.
The concert begins the autumn launch tour for Ensemble DeNOTE’s brand new recording of Mozart's Chamber Music. There will be a chance to talk with some of the players after the concert and obtain a signed copy of their latest recording.
Bromsgrove Concerts aims to provide programmes that are easily enjoyable while offering a varied and imaginative repertoire, and to regularly introduce audiences to unfamiliar contemporary pieces to broaden the listening experience.
