Programme Note

The English Chamber Orchestra performs a special gala concert in aid of NHS Charities Together, and the British Red Cross Humanitarian Appeal, sponsored by the Barratt Foundation.

The Barratt Foundation has supported the ECO's Close Encounters programme throughout the year, helping the orchestra reach out to young and old people across the country.

This wonderful programme of classics includes the premiere of British composer Howard Goodall's new work The Ordinary Heroes of Postman's Park, Benjamin Britten's Building of the House and is finally topped off with Beethoven's Symphony No.6, 'Pastoral'.

The ECO is delighted to be joined by soloist Katharina Kang Litton and conductor Andrew Litton for this performance.
