Mirror of Perfection was composed in the 1990s, and sets the delightful poetry of St Francis of Assisi in a powerful cantata of great lyrical beauty. Maurice Duruflé composed his longest and most substantial work, Requiem, at the end of World War II and, perhaps not surprisingly, he focusses his settings on rest and peace.
