Add to my Calendar 15-09-2017 19:30 15-09-2017 21:30 36 Llŷr Williams and the Nidum Ensemble Cowbridge Music Festival is honoured to welcome Llŷr Williams as its first Artist in Residence.  From Pentrebychan in North Wales, Llŷr Williams is one of Wales’ great musicians, widely admired for his profound and expressive interpretations. He has worked with leading orchestras around the world and made appearances at prestigious festivals including the London Proms and Edinburgh International Festival. Highly regarded as a performer of Beethoven, Llŷr has recently completed his second complete cycle of the Beethoven sonatas, spread over three seasons at Wigmore Hall and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. He is also well known as an accompanist and chamber musician and for his recordings on the Signum Classics label, the latest of which, his critically acclaimed Wagner Without Words, reflects his intimate relationship with operatic music. The Nidum Ensemble brings together some of the most brilliant young string players from South Wales and across the globe, two of its founding members being violinist Gwenllian Richards and cellist Steffan Morris from Neath. All play in leading orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. A dynamic, diverse and innovative group, the Nidum Ensemble is passionate about bringing chamber music to audiences throughout the UK, performing music ranging from piano trios and quartets to chamber orchestral works.
