In this recital we unveil Deborah Pritchard’s The World. Metaphysical poetry, including that by Henry Vaughan, has inspired Deborah’s writing of this cycle, touching on themes of light, time, the transcendental, the cosmos and the human spirit. A rare performance of the piano version of Mahler’s Der Abschied completes their late night recital. Pre-concert talk: Deborah Pritchard joins us to discuss her commissioned cycle The World, and to allow us an insight into her compositional process.
