Programme Note

The programme begins with the first ever saxophone quartet, composed by Jean-Baptiste Singelée. This will be followed by an original Impressionist work by Eugene Bozza, which already heralds or refers to the music of Maurice Ravel in the second half of the programme. In between, pieces characterised by a dance-like Spanish tango melos will play an important role.

The warm and colourful sound, the perfect fusion of the four instruments and unusual interpretations characterise the playing of the Eternum Quartet. The quartet is known for its imaginative performances of works from classical music as well as contemporary compositions, especially those written especially for them.
