Programme Note

The North Staffs Symphony Orchestra is proud to present this Centenary Concert as one of the events to celebrate Stoke-on-Trent being awarded city status in 1925. The works being performed all have a connection with the city. For example, the composer Havergal Brian was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Reginald Mitchell, the designer of the famous WW2 Spitfire aeroplane was also from Stoke  and is celebrated by William Walton.  Vaughan Williams is a direct descendant of the reknowned potter, Josiah Wedgwood.
