What relationships can be drawn between performer and audience, particularly coming out of a pandemic? Carolyn Sampson, Roderick Williams and Joseph Middleton tackle the knotty issue of gender politics in song head-on with a wide-ranging programme from across Europe and spanning centuries in their search for answers, inviting the audience to contribute, join the debate and encourage them on the journey. This recital seeks to put the audience centre stage. With your tickets, you will receive a document containing the details of many, many songs. We want YOU to choose what is performed and who sings what. The programme may include music by the likes of Purcell, Schumann, Wolf, Brahms, Mahler, Britten, Butterworth, Debussy, Fauré, Duparc and Rachmaninov but the exact content, especially who sings what, will be decided by the audience. So, join two of Britain’s finest singers and favourites at Leeds Lieder, grab a soap box, join us for our lieder juke box, and prepare to engage… Details of hannah Kendall's pre-concert talk HERE If you are purchasing a livestream pass the link and password will be in the confirmation email you receive when you have completed your purchase.
