Programme Note
We are proud to announce our most ambitious concept programme yet: 'Jupiter 1788'! We are sure that this concert will be a revelation. You will witness the opening of the secret vaults of Mozart's symphonic masterpiece: the 'Jupiter' symphony. We will take you for a journey back in time to Vienna on the brink of war with the Turkish Empire during the year 1788; the year in which the 'Jupiter' symphony was composed. We will follow Mozart's footsteps, like detectives: we will see his position regarding that war in particular which he expressed in his war songs; we will perform the music he wrote for his new job as imperial composer of chamber music for the Emperor Joseph II. We will perform the music he bought of Michael Haydn and that he kept in his library and the music he conducted in a public performance by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Last but not least we will perform the 'Jupiter' symphony for you. Pre-concert talk at 6.00 p.m. and concert at 7.30 p.m.
