Programme Note

For this lunchtime concert, early music group Ensemble Hesperi have put together a lovely mix of works by early 18th C composers, from three of their programmes. The title “A Curious Collection” derives from one – “Highlands”: James Oswald’s A Curious Collection of Scots Tunes. “Gardens” includes Telemann and Oswald on this theme, and they also include pieces by the exact contemporaries, Bach and Handel.
