Programme Note

Cheltenham Philharmonic Orchestra try to mix music rarely heard in live performance with more familiar works.

This spring concert starts with Hérold’s overture to his opera Zampa, and continues with Darius Milhaud’s Le bœuf sur le toit – a lively 1920s ballet score based on Brazilian tunes. Finally, the cheery and almost pastoral Second Symphony of Brahms rounds off this celebration of Spring.
