Programme Note

Presented by the Royal Academy of Music

The Pearl Trio, formed by violinist Briona Mannion, clarinetist Leo Kerr and pianist Tim Rumsey began playing together in 2020. Over the last year they have been coached by eminent musicians such as Timothy Lines, Levon Chilingirian and Joanna MacGregor. The trio have performed exciting and innovative programmes in recitals throughout the UK including at the Royal Academy of Music as part of their Piano Festival and recital concert series. The trio’s equal passion for both folk music and jazz have led them to performing repertoire by Armenian composers Khachaturian and Arutiunian, as well as by jazz-influenced composers Gershwin and Milhaud.
