Programme Note

Mendelssohn completed his Elijah in 1846 for the Birmingham Triennial Festival of that year. It took place in the city's Town Hall  - a building specially erected in 1834 to accommodate the Festival's increasing popularity - and was immediately proclaimed a triumph. As a result of this Elijah was performed at every subsequent Festival right up until the last one in 1912.

Come and enjoy an inspiring and uplifting afternoon singing choruses from Mendelssohn's Elijah and be refreshed by our renowned Bach Choir teas!
