The NLO also has a long history of working with soloists starting out on exciting careers: in 2020 they collaborated with the young Japanese pianist ARUHI on the premiere recording of Taverner's Palintropos, to great critical acclaim. Their concert at HBCMF, conducted by Artistic Director Joshua Ballance, opens with a new arrangement for string orchestra of the Nocturnal Scherzo by the British composer Ailsa Dixon. This is followed by Benjamin Britten's Serenade, for which the orchestra are joined by the horn player Annemarie Federle, and tenor Brenton Spiteri. The concert concludes with Arnold Schoenberg's ravishing Verklarte Nacht ('Transfigured Night'). St John the Baptist Church, London DD/MM/YYYYDetails
