Programme Note

Following their brilliant debut last season, the 2017 winners of the St Peter’s Prize, The Halcyon Quartet, return with a programme of string quartet favourites. Haydn’s Op. 74 was written with an eye to the cosmopolitan taste of the British musical public; Dvorak’s ‘American’ captures the spirit of American music, and Schubert’s 'Death and the Maiden' is a testament to death and is one of the pillars of the chamber music repertoire.
