The passionate, intimate and rousing Caprice Bohémien by Rachmaninov will set the scene perfectly before we welcome back virtuoso Jonathan Ellis to perform the innovative and boisterous Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt. Bohemian Moods, composed by Gorton Philharmonic's oboist Chris Irvin, follows, and the concert concludes with Bohemian-born composer Martinů’s Symphony No. 1, a work of extraordinary power and beauty composed in memory of his late wife.
