In addition to the core repertoire, the quartet presents a selection of new works each season, and diversifies into film music, pop, folk, rock, and the spoken word. Mendelssohn's spirited, classically-inflected third quartet, written in the early years of his marriage, was his favourite of the Opus 44 works. Philip Glass' six movement quartet was assembled from the childhood scenes in his score for the 1985 film Mishima.
