Programme Note

Morten Lauridsen is one of America’s best loved modern composers. Lux aeterna was greeted by The Times after its London première as "a classic of new American choral writing...”.

Mozart's Sparrow Mass (Spatzenmesse) is short in a simple structure, but festively scored with brass and timpani in addition to four soloists and organ.

Giovanni Battista Draghi (1710-1736), better known as Pergolesi, wrote many works, sacred and secular, in his short life, some of which have been heard in films such as Amadeus and Farinelli.
