Programme Note

Please join us for an inspiring evening of choral music that spans the centuries from the 16th century to the current day in celebration of sixty years of Thomas Tallis Society.

Highlights include:

Splendid polychoral works by JL Bach and Gabrieli performed in the magnificence of St Alfege Church.

Two modern day world premieres of pieces by Ahle and Knüpfer, both contemporaries of JS Bach.

You'll also hear the first performances of two very special new commissions for TTS by Anna Semple and Eoghan Desmond using texts taken from two of Thomas Tallis' most popular motets.

Alongside well-loved music by Mozart and Tallis including Ave Verum and Sancta Maria.

The choir will be accompanied by the English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble.

Don’t miss this chance to hear incredible music that rather amazingly has not been performed for 250 years, newly reconstructed, together with well-known favourites - performed with passion and devotion and followed by a birthday party/post concert interval in the church hall where all audience, choir and crew are most welcome.

Thomas Tallis Society - Celebration at 60!
