The programme includes Britten’s macaronic masterpiece ‘Hymn to the Virgin’ and rarely performed work ‘Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam’, seven settings of poems by Jesuit priest and poet Gerard Manley Hopkins. As well as Cozzolani’s lively ‘Vespro Della Beata Vergine' of 1650 - a seldom performed setting of the vespers which are now gaining the attention they deserve!
