Add to my Calendar 15-06-2019 20:00 15-06-2019 22:00 36 Vivaldi - The Four Seasons by Candlelight If you're looking for a romantic candlelit experience - or simply want to enjoy some classical music greats in a gorgeous setting - then this is the concert for you. UK based chamber orchestra London Concertante regularly performs up to and over one hundred concerts per year, making it the busiest ensemble of its kind in the country. With their numerous recordings reaching great critical acclaim, the ensemble is continually regarded as one of the finest groups in Europe since its founding in 1991.   Felix Mendelssohn was a composer who showed incredible compositional promise from an early age. His 12 symphonies for strings are some of his earliest surviving works, and were composed between the ages of 12 and 14. This program opens with String Symphony No. 10 - a fabulously nuanced and mature composition, despite Mendelssohn’s young age. Following this is Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, an incredibly emotional and lyrical composition that, in his own words, came ‘from inner compulsion...from the heart’. All of this before Vivaldi’s baroque masterpiece, the iconic Four Seasons. Four concerti full of glistening melodies, enthralling instrumental interplay and staggering string writing, marked by Vivaldi’s playful and effervescent style. For classical music lovers and casual listeners alike - this promises to be a truly special evening.   If you don’t consider yourself ‘in the know’ about Mozart, Beethoven, or Bach, fear not, this is the orchestra for you. The ensemble boasts an audience record in which an impressive 50% of spectators are first-time classical concert goers! The London Concertante has its audience laughing at jokes, gasping at virtuosity, moved by gorgeous playing, and leaving with a smile on their faces.   ‘The talent on display is breathtaking’ - Sunam, October 2018   ‘A magical experience’ - Geraldine, June 2018   ‘Really accessible, entertaining and beautiful’ - Audience Member, 2018 St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin DD/MM/YYYY
