Programme Note

The Brandenburg Choral Festival of London is thrilled to welcome Copenhagen’s award-winning Chamber Choir Musica to the 2016 Autumn Series. Together with storyteller Pernille Stockfleth, Musica will explore choral music inspired by William Shakespeare in his 400th anniversary year. This storytelling concert will feature music by Thomas Morley, Henry Purcell, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and several Nordic composers, including new pieces written for this project by Christian Hildebrandt and the choir’s conductor Filipe Carvalheiro. Texts will be drawn from Hamlet, Othello, The Tempest, Macbeth, Twelft Night, As You Like It and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The concert is performed entirely in English.
