The result was ragtime, and in launched a craze which would change musical history everywhere in the world, opening the doors to Dixieland, Jazz, Rock ‘n’ Roll, R ‘n’ B and finally Hip Hop. This concert, featuring the outstanding dancers of Academy Theatre Arts, traces the early years of Joplin’s emergence and the influence he had on the next generation of musical giants including Eubie Blake, James Reese Europe and George Gershwin.
