Programme Note

‘Beethoven is the alpha and omega of my life as an artist,’ says the French pianist, who in addition to performing numerous sonata cycles, and both playing and directing the concertos, has plans to conduct the composer’s symphonies. Substantial challenges from the 19th-century repertoire frame a short new work by a leading member of the Spectralist tradition of French music which François-Frédéric Guy premièred in Paris in February.
