Programme Note

It’s a real privilege to welcome the renowned International cellist Raphael Wallfisch as our soloist in the great Cello concerto in B minor by Antonin Dvorak.

Other works include Wagner's 'Ride of the Walkyries', followed by Kodaly’s Dances of Galanta . We also feature a piece by the English composer Alec Roth – Fandangle - for large orchestra. Although this is a piece we have played before, it definitely deserves another outing. The stunning Colour Symphony by Sir Arthur Bliss, will provide the ‘colourful’ conclusion to our concert in the Cathedral.
