Originally composed over 300 years ago for the female musicians of the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, where Vivaldi served as music director, The Four Seasons has remained one of classical music’s most enduring masterpieces. In more recent times, it has been reinterpreted by leading composers including Nigel Kennedy and Max Richter, each bringing a new perspective to its timeless musical imagery. For this performance, Lizzie Ball and James Pearson present their own newly reworked interpretation, combining the original score with elements of improvisation and fresh arrangement, performed by some of the UK’s finest classical musicians.
