Showcasing exceptional talent from leading UK and international pianists, each recital offers a unique perspective on some of the most profound and beloved works in the piano repertoire. This season marks the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's death  - these concerts pay a fitting tribute to his great genius, two centuries on. Set against the magnificent backdrop of St Giles’ Cathedral — illuminated by candlelight and enhanced by a newly installed Steinway grand piano — these concerts promise an unforgettable musical experience at the heart of Edinburgh’s historic Royal Mile. About Madalina RusoMadalina is an accomplished pianist whose performances are defined by passion, sensitivity, and a natural ability to connect with audiences. Whether in recital or concerto appearances, she brings an engaging energy to the stage, supported by a repertoire that spans the great Classical masters through to contemporary composers.  In recent years, Madalina has been particularly drawn to works by women composers, weaving their music together with the stories of their lives. A passionate Romantic interpreter, she has a special affinity for the music of Robert and Clara Schumann, Brahms, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and, more recently, Gershwin. With over 20 piano concertos in her repertoire, Madalina is also an exceptionally experienced concerto soloist. Beyond the Romantic repertoire, Madalina has a strong emotional connection to Spanish and South American music. Her recital programmes often include entire evenings dedicated to Spanish composers and the works of Piazzolla, which have been widely praised for their vibrancy and authenticity.
