Programme Note

For Friday evening's concert violinist Tom Aldren and double-bassist Will Duerden join the Primrose for two wonderfully lyrical works by Russian composers Anton Arensky & Sergey Lyapunov.

Both works feature unusual combinations of instruments which may account for the fact they are not often heard in concert; undeservedly so, as both are wonderful examples of the lyrical, highly passionate & tuneful Romantic Russian style of Tchaikovsy, Borodin & Rimsky-Korsakov.

The Primrose greatly enjoys bringing these lesser know composers' works to a wider audience, and hopes you will enjoy discovering them too.

Tickets for those attending both this and concert 3 will be available at the usual price for a full-length concert (including a glass of wine).
