Programme Note
Etcetera, the Civil Service Choir, return to the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London with this concert of sacred choral music and traditional folk songs – much of it with a twist! The finale of the concert is Bob Chilcott’s Little Jazz Mass, which reworks the traditional Latin text as you’ve probably never heard it before, complete with authentic jazz accompaniment by the Chris Ingham Trio. The programme also includes Chilcott’s Five Days that Changed the World, and two of his charming folk song arrangements. Other traditional songs are reworked by Percy Grainger, Gustav Holst and Ralph Vaughan Williams, and the performance also features two of contemporary composer Eric Whitacre’s best-loved choral works, Sleep and Seal Lullaby. Join us in the superb acoustic of St Katharine Cree for this evening of beautiful choral works sung by one of London’s finest large choirs.
