Add to my Calendar 25-06-2018 18:00 25-06-2018 20:00 36 Jennifer Johnston (mezzo soprano) & Cameron Richardson-Eames (piano) You're invited to join us for a magical evening:  not only a rare London opportunity to hear the wonderful dramatic mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston in recital, but also to witness the talents of her collaborator, rising-star pianist Cameron Richardson-Eames.  Guests are warmly invited to join the artists for a reception in the Club's exclusive bar and lounge after the performance. ​ Jennifer Johnston, dramatic mezzo-soprano, was named by both BBC Music Magazine and the Observer as “a rising star”, and the Financial Times as the “Face to Watch in Opera”.  A former BBC New Generation Artist, she is a graduate of Cambridge University and the Royal College of Music and is the recipient of numerous awards.Highlights of Jennifer’s engagements in season 2017-18 include, at the Bayerische Staatsoper, La Ciesca Gianni Schicchi /La Maestra della Novizie Suor Angelica in a new production of Puccini’s Il Trittico, and Flosshilde Das Rheingold, Götterdämmerung / Siegrune Die Walküre / Second Norn Götterdämmerung in Wagner’s Ring Cycle, all under Kirill Petrenko.  She will also sing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra, both under Franz Welser Möst, with the Spanish National Orchestra and David Afkam, and with the BBCSSO and Thomas Dausgaard; Mahler’s Das Lied Von Der Erde with the Hamburger Symphoniker, Adès’ Totentanz with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Daniel Harding, Verdi’s Requiem with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Edward Gardner, Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Martyn Brabbins, Bach’s St Matthew Passion with the Bach Choir and David Hill, and Mahler’s Rückert Lieder with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and Courtney Lewis.  She will appear in recital with Joseph Middleton for BBC Radio 3 at the Northern Ireland Festival of Voice. Born in Grimsby in 1992, Cameron Richardson-Eames is a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, and the Royal Academy of Music, London.  He is currently a Fulbright Scholar at The Juilliard School in New York, studying collaborative piano under Dr Brian Zeger, Margo Garrett and JJ Penna, where he is supported by the Arthur Gold, Robert Fizdale, and George H Gangwere Scholarships.  At Cambridge he was a choral scholar and graduated with high First Class Honours, a Senior Academic Scholarship, Newton Scholarship, and Research Scholarship, before serving three years on the university’s music faculty.  At the Royal Academy of Music, he was awarded the Major Von Someron Godfrey Award for accompanists, Dame Ruth Railton Prize for chamber music, Katie Thomas Memorial Award for outstanding achievement, and the coveted honorary Diploma of the Royal Academy of Music for outstanding postgraduate performance.  Recent engagements include broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, Südwestrundfunk Deutschland and WQXR in the US, including live at the launch night of the BBC Proms, and performances in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Estonia, Malta, and in New York at Alice Tully Hall (Lincoln Center), Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and Marilyn Horne’s ‘The Song Continues’ series, also at Carnegie Hall.  Forthcoming engagements include recitals in the UK (Wigmore Hall, St James’ Piccadilly, Ryedale Festival), Copenhagen, and a Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concert with mezzo soprano Siena Licht Miller.  He is also a member of the piano staff at the Ravinia Steans Music Institute in Chicago.Cameron is also a singer and has performed with the Grammy-nominated choirs Polyphony (Stephen Layton, voted second-best choir in the world in Gramophone magazine) and The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge, with whom he recorded thirteen CDs for the Hyperion record label.  He studied voice with Professor Susan McCulloch (Guildhall School of Music and Drama), and now works as a vocal coach for the Magaziner Vocal Studio in New York, with a special emphasis on training young singers for the Broadway stage.  His extremely varied career includes playing for the Brit Award-winning crossover band, BLAKE, whose recent album is currently at number one in the UK Classical Charts.  Cameron is a Park Lane Group Young Artist and a Fellow of Trinity College London in piano performance. 1901 Arts Club, London DD/MM/YYYY
