Vivaldi's Four Seasons by Candlelight

with the London Concertante

Part of the London Concertante by Candlelight 2018 Series

Add to my Calendar 28-04-2018 19:30 28-04-2018 21:30 36 Vivaldi's Four Seasons by Candlelight Don’t miss out on the chance to hear one of Britain’s finest ensembles, as they tour the country with their internationally renowned programme, headlined by Vivaldi’s iconic Four Seasons and accompanied by a selection of classic treats and hidden gems. London Concertante is one of the finest chamber ensembles in the country, its players brought together through a shared passion for chamber music. The group has the rare ability to combine flexibility of instrumental grouping and consistently maintain superb artistic endeavour. With an enviable array of critical acclaim, a stunning selection of recordings on such prestigious labels as Chandos, Toccata Classics and Harmonia Mundi, and performances throughout the UK and Europe, London Concertante rightfully claims its position at the forefront of classical performers in the UK. While perhaps Mozart’s spritely Eine Kleine Nachtmusic and Pachelbel’s ‘Canon’, two of the most loved early classical works, require little introduction, George Phillip Telemann’s Concerto for Viola in G Major still remains somewhat of a hidden gem of the genre. As it demonstrates the variety of characteristic capabilities of the Viola, listen out for the hauntingly introvert yet remarkably tender melody of the third movement, before the finale displays the stately and regal capabilities of the instrument.  An audience favourite, Bach’s concertos are renowned for their beautiful and relentless exuberance; the violin is pushed to its technical limits with its songlike capabilities and devilish virtuosity throughout. And all this before The Four Seasons! An evening of exhilaration and beauty awaits! If you don’t consider yourself ‘in the know’ about Mozart, Beethoven, or Bach, fear not, this is the orchestra for you. The London Concertante boasts a remarkable audience record in which an impressive 50% of spectators are first time classical concert goers! The London Concertante has its audience laughing at jokes, gasping at virtuosity, moved by gorgeous string playing, and leaving with a smile on their faces.   Coventry Cathedral, Coventry DD/MM/YYYY
