Brett Dean’s opera Hamlet, premiered at Glyndebourne in 2017, was a sensation, described by The Sunday Times as ‘the operatic event of the year’. This new piece, Madame ma bonne soeur, draws on texts by Mary Stuart, adapted by Matthew Jocelyn (who was also the librettist for Hamlet). It will be performed by Lotte Betts-Dean, a former Oxford Lieder Young Artist and Brett Dean’s daughter! She is joined by the masterly Armida Quartet, former BBC New Generation Artists, who also perform Mozart’s sublime Quartet in E Flat, K428. Enjoy the whole festival live online for £165 with a Digital Festival Pass. All events will be available on demand after broadcast until 30th November, so you can catch up at a time which suits you.
