The focal point of today’s programme, as on that recording, is Aaron Copland’s Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson, written in 1949/50. These richly evocative songs are complemented by nature-related Dickinson poems set to music by other American composers including André Previn and Juliana Hall, and selections from Julian Phillip’s 2007 cycle An Amherst Bestiary.
