Programme Note

As an emerging pianist, Christian Blackshaw attracted the admiration of Clifford Curzon, no less, for his interpretation of the two composers the great master was most celebrated for, Mozart and Schubert. This concert gives us the tantalising prospect of hearing Blackshaw in both, and with the highest calibre partners from the Berlin Philharmonic.

Blackshaw’s four-CD Mozart sonata set for Wigmore Hall Live has generated extravagant praise, with critics around the world hailing these ‘landmark recordings’ as ‘captivating’, ‘magical’ and ‘masterful’.
