Programme Note

If you missed the premiere, this is a second chance to witness the remarkable spectacle of St George’s packed to the rafters with a record number of brass band and choir members for composer Liz Lane’s extraordinary piece, Innovation 216. Described as ‘thrilling’, ‘fabulous’ and ‘a moving love letter to Bristol’s aviation story’, Innovation 216 is first to the runway in an extravaganza of flight and WWI inspired music, from the ‘Dam Busters March’ to ‘Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines’. Fasten your seat belts before take-off with the Lydbrook Band, training bands from City of Bristol, Lydbrook and Lydney bands, Gurt Lush Choir, Bristol MAN Chorus and members of the UWE Singers, conducted by Ian Holmes and Sam Burns.
