Programme Note
A late-night suite of songs will be strung by the brilliant classical guitarist Fábio Fernandes. Featuring works spanning from the Baroque to the present day, this solo concert perfectly mirrors a commitment to showcase the diversity and range within the English music sound-world.
Opening with the Baroque titan Henry Purcell who is paired with a pillar of the twentieth-century English guitar scene, John William Duarte, the legacy of the English musical sensibility is celebrated. The programme progresses to more whimsical, heartfelt, and virtuosic explorations of the guitar to display its rich, albeit often overlooked, history in the English parlour and concert hall.
