Performing two concertos in one evening, Vengerov premieres Eugene Birman's Violin Concerto, a striking composition chosen for performance during our 2015 Composers' Workshop. Beethoven's ethereal contribution to the solo genre - his Violin Concerto of 1806 - immortalised a vision of the instrument which encompassed surging lyric boundaries and melodic allure, while his Eighth Symphony imparted an exuberant philosophy of symphonic experimentation.
