Programme Note

Patricia Petibon is one of the world’s most exciting sopranos, described by The Guardian as ‘a genuine maverick’ and ‘beguiling’, with a voice that is ‘a mixture of muslin and steel’. We welcome her to Oxford for the first time with the peerless pianist Susan Manoff. They perform a programme that questions the fine lines between classical, folk and jazz, 'mélodie' and 'chanson', via the songs of an astonishing array of French, Spanish, American and Latin-American composers including Hahn, Copland, Satie, Granados, Ginastera, Poulenc, Bernstein and many others. This is certain to be one of the highlights of the Festival, and early booking is strongly recommended.
